Alkhasian Family

Help a family to rise up out of poverty and move toward a sustainable future! Amount to sponsor one family for one year: $2,400 (Each family enrolled in the program will receive a quarterly remittance of $600. Sponsors and families are encouraged to build a relationship through letter writing.)



Alkhasian family

Margarita Alkhasian was born in 1978. Before the Second Artsakh War, she and her husband and their five children lived in the village of Tsakhkaber in the Kashatagh region. She worked at the school as a librarian. Now she makes cakes and tries to sell them.

Her husband, Suren Hasratian was born in 1969. Before the War he worked as a veterinarian in their local and 11 surrounding villages. In addition, he and Margarita was engaged in agriculture and cattle breeding. Now Suren is not working, he is engaged `in cultivating the garden near his house.

The eldest daughter, Lilit was born in 1998, now she is married and lives in Goris.

All the members of the family miss their former village very much, but they are optimistic, they try to find ways to improve their life. The eldest son, Gor was born in 2003. He entered Yerevan University of Architecture. Now he is serving in the Artsakh army.

The middle daughter, Sona was born in 2005. She is in the 11th grade.

The youngest son, Arman was born in 2008. He is in the 8th grade, and the youngest daughter, Elen was born in 2014 and is in the 1st grade.

The family now lives in a 4-room house (The fee is 40,000AMD). The house is very old and needs renovation. The utilities are in sufficient state. There is furniture, the main part of it is old and belongs to the owner of the house. There is gas supply in the house, but they heat with firewood.

All the members of the family miss their former village very much, but they are optimistic, they try to find ways to improve their life.
